PILLAWINE Imports was established in the summer of 2005 by the owner, Rinaldo Pilla. While being committed to making exceptional yet traditional Italian wines available to enthusiasts abroad, PILLAWINE Imports is also interested in sharing enology education and wine culture with its clients.

Raised in a hard-working southern Italian family, Aldo learned early in life to respect the blessings that accompany agriculture and viticulture. With his father, Luigi Pilla and his grandfather, Nicandro Palumbo, Aldo tended the family farm in Venafro, Italy. Traditional methods were commonplace, such as making homemade cheeses, pressing fresh olive oil, and of course making plenty of rustic, yet delicious wine.
Aldo recalls sitting under a shade tree with his grandfather sharing simple lunches made completely from the abundance of their farm, and most of the time they were washed down with a glass or two of Sr. Palumbo's own wine. On those afternoons, it was easy for Aldo to see the pleasures and rewards found in the fields of Southern Italy. As a young adult, Aldo moved to Rome to attend the European School of Economics. There he gained a Bachelor degree, with honors, in International Business. In December of 2001, Aldo moved to Iowa and began to become acquainted with life and business in America. At the age of 27, Rinaldo decided to bring his love for traditional Italian viticulture to his new home in Davenport, Iowa and thus PILLAWINE Imports was born.

Recently, the company has expanded to include the expertise of a few partners, such as Dott. Raffaele Russo, the official graphic designer for PILLAWINE. Chris Hendricks is the company CFO, and in 2006 Chad Michael Ladish and John Michael Newman joined forces to bring the dream of this new company further south to Arkansas. Davide Di Paola is the Company Administrator coordinating all aspects of operations and management. Gabriele Manzi is the platform specialist.

Our company wishes to reflect the high standards exemplified by simple, hard working farmers and vintners like Nicandro Palumbo. By selecting quality wines which are traditionally crafted from heirloom varieties of grapes, PILLAWINE is interested in providing the American public with only the best of the Italian soil.
